Our Paris stays cover a lot of ground. We have had the full palace hotel experience at the Plaza Athénée and woken up at the Ritz on Place Vendôme. The hotel is large and well-run with comfortable rooms and excellent transport connections from Gare Montparnasse that make it easy to get anywhere in the city quickly. The Montparnasse location is one of the most practical in Paris without being central-tourist, which means better prices and the real Parisian brasserie tradition immediately outside the door. The great cafes of the Montparnasse literary era, Le Select, La Rotonde and La Coupole, are all a short walk away. A solid, reliable and well-priced choice for a Paris trip where you want to use the city rather than just photograph it.

FAQ About Hotels in Paris
The 1st Arrondissement around the Louvre and Tuileries gives you the best all-round first-visit base. You are central to everything, the transport connections are excellent and the major sights are walkable. Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the 6th is a close second if you want more neighbourhood character and the Left Bank experience. Both work extremely well.
The Right Bank has more of the grand luxury hotels, the Champs-Élysées and the Marais. The Left Bank has Saint-Germain, the Musée d’Orsay and a neighbourhood feel that the Right Bank cannot quite replicate. For a first visit, the 1st Arrondissement on the Right Bank. For a repeat visit where you want to go deeper into Paris, the Left Bank every time.
For peak summer travel in July and August or major events like Paris Fashion Week, the Paris Marathon or the Roland Garros tennis, book at least two to three months ahead. Paris hotels at good locations book quickly year-round. For the luxury palaces during peak periods, earlier is always better and often comes with significantly better rates.
Paris sits comfortably in the upper tier of European cities for hotel pricing, particularly in the 1st, 6th and 8th Arrondissements. The 14th, 15th and outer arrondissements offer significantly better value with good transport connections back to the centre. Booking in advance and avoiding August if possible makes a meaningful difference to the overall cost.
