Two Friends Exploring Europe in Midlife
We’ve been friends for more than 20 years, and in 2017 we packed up our lives in Los Angeles and moved to Europe. I brought my son Dylan, and Lisa brought Cash, her dog. Since then, we’ve lived in Italy and the Netherlands and traveled all over Europe together.
A lot has changed since those first trips. Dylan is grown now, and Rex is Lisa’s travel companion these days. We’re also both in our 50s, and the way we travel has changed too.
We still love road trips, exploring new cities and getting out into the mountains. But we’re just as happy taking the cable car instead of spending six hours hiking, booking the hotel with the great spa or spending a long afternoon over lunch. That’s why we’ve started sharing more about midlife travel and what traveling through Europe actually looks like for us now.
The getAwayZ is where we share the places we’ve been, where we stayed, what we ate, what worked and what we’d do differently next time. It’s based on our actual trips and nearly a decade of living in Europe.
