Prague Travel Guide

We recorded this episode because Prague is one of those cities we keep going back to. Between the two of us, we’ve visited multiple times, both together and separately, in different seasons and with different travel styles.

This episode pulls together what we’ve learned across those trips, from where to stay to what actually feels worth your time once you’re there.

Episode Summary

Prague is a city that’s easy to love and easy to navigate. In this episode, we share how we’ve experienced it over several visits, starting with where we stayed and how different neighborhoods feel. We talk through Praha 1, 2, and 3 and why staying just outside the historic center can be a better option if you’re traveling with kids or a dog.

We cover the activities that stood out most to us, including Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and climbing the tower for views over the city. We also talk about experiences that add context, like the Cold War bunker tour and seeing how communism still shapes parts of the city’s story.

Food is a big part of this episode. Prague surprised us with how well we ate and how affordable it was, from traditional Czech dishes to unexpectedly great pizza. We also touch on local favorites like chimney cakes and heavier cold-weather food, plus a very divisive herbal after-dinner drink we discovered on one trip.

We talk about what makes Prague especially good for families, including a massive interactive toy store complex that can easily fill a full day. We also share honest thoughts on touristy experiences like the medieval dinner, which isn’t authentic but can still be fun, especially with kids or teens.

This episode is a realistic look at Prague as a city that balances history, affordability, good food, and family-friendly experiences, with plenty still left to explore.
