Swedish no bake Chocolate Balls
Fika
(pronounced “fee-kuh”)
A cherished Swedish cultural tradition meaning a deliberate coffee break to socialize, relax, and enjoy a hot drink (like coffee or tea) with a sweet treat (like a cinnamon bun or cookie) or snack, fostering connection and slowing down in daily life.
We were introduced to Fika while we visited Sweden over the holidays and we are all in! We tried Chokladbollar while we were there and I decided to try them at home and I will say, they are quick, easy and a perfect size for an afternoon Fika. You can whip them up in no time and it makes a decent sized batch to eat all week. That little bit of coffee inside gives a nice added flavor, not to mention pick me up. I hope yours look a bit more like balls than mine but either way they taste great!

Chokladbollar
Swedish no bake Chocolate Balls
Ingredients
- ½ cup of butter, softened
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp of cocoa powder
- 1 1/3 cup of oats
- 2 TBSP of coffee at room temperature
- 1/3 cup of coconut flakes
Instructions
- Beat together the butter, sugar and vanilla until well blended. (I used a stand mixer which I think makes it easy.)
- Add the cocoa power and mix.
- Add oats and coffee and blend well.
- Shape mixture into smallish balls (or in my case, blobs 😊)
- Roll each ball in coconut flakes.
- Keep refrigerated until enjoying!
